My name’s Maya, and I’m a copy writer and campaigns assistant based in London.

I’m upset on a daily basis by a lot of causes. These include human trafficking, decision-making within the immigration detention system, freedom of speech, legal aid access, and human rights abuses in Afghanistan, Cameroon and Tibet.

Too often, trafficking victims face disbelief, imprisonment, and eventually deportation to the same conditions in which they were enslaved initially. This year, I worked with staff at Stop the Traffik to set up a training programme for detention visitors to spot the signs of wrongful detention. If you’d like to find out more, feel free to visit the website here.

To distract myself from humanity’s slowly decaying grasp on human rights, I also like to watch videos of orangutans being cute, eat vegan pizza and doodle. Some of these may feature here.
